About the Job

Edgestream is looking for a data scientist with strong data engineering skills to become a high-impact member of our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing production-quality software for processing of data:
    • Ensuring data quality in the pipeline from data acquisition to the model,
    • Working in a distributed-memory multiprocessing environment.
  • Identification and refinement of features in data that are useful for modeling.
  • Contributing to our understanding of data, including market microstructure.
  • Parsing, normalizing, and understanding historical market data.
  • Evaluation and absorption of new data types and sources for use in modeling.
  • Aiding in the design of real-time data acquisition systems.
  • Close collaboration with research team, software engineers, and trading-operations staff.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in the physical sciences, computer science, or mathematics.
    Experience working with, processing, and analyzing data.
    Strong programming skills, in one or many of the following:
    • Python, Pandas, Numpy, Matlab, R,
    • HPC,
    • Linux/UNIX: command line tools, filesystems, signals, pipes.
  • An interest in working across the spectrum, from low-level data processing (data
    engineering) up through analysis and feature detection.
  • No prior experience in finance required.
